When space and cost are at a premium, the RECOM RACPRO1-S120 DIN rail PSU is the solution. Offering 120W output power from -40°C to +60°C ambient in convection-only cooling, the part is just 100mm high, 112mm deep, and 28mm wide, achieving 500W/liter power density and an efficiency of up to 93.3%. As a bonus, up to 144W is available to 45°C, with a further power boost to 150% for five seconds for surge loads. Adjustable output voltages are available at 12V, 24V, or 48VDC, each with an extended return voltage capability of more than 35V at 24V and 63V at 48V, for immunity to back-feed from inductive and motor loads. A DC-OK signal is also provided. Input is universal single-phase AC, or 88 to 370VDC with active inrush limiting. The RACPRO1-S120 series is certified to global safety standards IEC/EN/UL 61010-1, and IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-2-201. Radiated and conducted emissions are compliant with EN 61000-6-4 Class B, and the parts meet EN 61000-6-2 immunity standard. No-load power consumption is 0.3W maximum. Installation is simple with tool-less mounting and 25° push-in connectors. Reliability is excellent and lifetime expectancy is 111,000 hours at 40°C. The IEC 60601-1 states maximum requirements concerning the protection from electric shock for medical applications in which patients and operators can get into direct contact with electrical equipment and systems. In order to reduce risks to a minimum, manufacturers must integrate two means of protection in their products. For this purpose, they can either implement two separate measures or apply a single measure twice. Overall the specified protection level 2 MOPP (means of patient protection) or 2 MOOP (means of operator protection) must be obtained. In addition, manufacturers must introduce a management process in which they not only investigate all protection-relevant aspects, but also document the results in detail. Due to these reasons the approval procedures for medical electrical equipment and systems have recently become even more complex than they already were prior to the effective release of the latest version of the IEC 60601-1.
