O-boy
O-BOY : SMART PRODUCTS Harmonizing tech & design in a satellite rescue watch : Crafted to withstand the harshest conditions, this ingenious device keeps adventurers connected and protected even in the most isolated terrains. Imagine being able to send out a distress signal to a satellite in the event of an emergency. O-Boy makes this a reality, as it relays the signal to a central monitoring system, prompting rapid response from relevant authorities. The journey of O-Boy began with intensive research and development, fueled by a determination to overcome technical limitations. Balancing technical functionality with aesthetics was a central challenge. The development team tackled miniaturization, downsizing technology to create a compact device that accommodates various wrist sizes. To counter the perceived size, the design team drew inspiration from natural shapes like pebbles and ogive arches, using specific curvaceous splines to create a reflective surface that makes the watch appear smaller. However, a bumped shell design does not only enhanced shock resistance but also improved overall strength. Maintaining structural strength was imperative, achieved through ergonomic shapes and neutral materials. This approach was crucial due to the absence of high-tech materials like carbon fiber that interfere with the satellite waves. Moreover, the IP68 waterproofing without screws was an engineering marvel. An integrated system enabled the insertion of gorilla glass from the inside, post-assembly of the display and electronics. This innovation ensured O-Boy's water resistance while accommodating the ruggedness demanded by adventurers. Services : Strategy, Product Design, Electronics, Embedded Software, Manufacturing. YODA : MOBILITY Enhancing the electronic moped experience : Yoda is an electric motorbike hybrid designed for urban areas. The bike is poised to redefine the way we navigate city streets, offering a dynamic solution that blends environmental consciousness, efficiency, and style. The Yoda Bike addresses a pressing need in urban areas - the demand for a sustainable and enjoyable mode of transportation. With its lightweight design and impressive capabilities, it introduces a harmonious fusion of bicycle agility and moped power, making daily commutes a breeze. What sets it apart is its commitment to user-centered design. Weighting in at a mere 24kg, it guarantees an agile ride through busy streets while keeping a great 70km of autonomy on a single charge. The aluminum structure blends minimalism and durability, offering robustness while embracing a futuristic aesthetic. This innovation is a result of meticulous research and development, driven by a desire to contribute to the future of mobility. It's creation involved studying user habits and market needs, culminating in a design that seamlessly fits into the fast-paced rhythms of modern life. Amidst the challenges posed by the Covid-19 crisis, Futurewave's engineers expertly selected components to ensure market alignment, demonstrating adaptability and foresight. Locky: Transportation. Shaping cycle parking facility of tomorrow. Locky is a bicycle security solution that offers an advanced level of protection for users. The objective was to develop an urban lock solution with optimal security for bicycles. Locky addresses a pressing issue in urban environments – bicycle theft. As more people embrace cycling for transportation, the need for effective bike security solutions grows to encourage sustainable anc active commuting. It not only provides a practical solution to bike theft but also aligns with environmental sustainability. Its two-point locking system and solar-powered operation make it a modern, eco-friendly choice for securing bikes in an urban settings. From Futurewave's perspective, Locky's design and functionality make it a well-suited and forward-thinking solution to a real-world problem. The design embodies a blend of durability and innovation, making it visually appealing and practical. It engages users through its user-friendly interface and the promise of enhanced security. The inclusion of a smartphone app, along with features like the QR code, streamlines the locking process, ensuring convenience and accessibily. Finally, Locky is manufactured through a local production process in Belgium, emphasizing quality control and supporting the local economy.
