AnTARES UGent Rocketry Team: Engineering the Future of Sustainable Aerospace

AnTARES is the pioneering student rocketry team from Ghent University (UGent). We are a dedicated group of ambitious engineering and science students with a clear mission: designing, building, and launching a high-performance sounding rocket to an altitude of 3 kilometers at the European Rocketry Challenge (EuRoC) in Portugal.

We differentiate ourselves from other teams through groundbreaking sustainable innovation. Instead of using traditional carbon fiber, we are engineering our rocket's airframe using a revolutionary flax-fiber and bio-resin composite. This unique approach drastically reduces the ecological footprint of aerospace manufacturing and has even earned us a selected spot in the prestigious BISC-E (Bio-based Innovation Student Challenge Europe) competition.

Beyond advanced materials, the success of our mission heavily relies on state-of-the-art electronics, data acquisition, and automation. Our dedicated avionics engineers develop bespoke PCBs, redundant flight computers, and high-frequency real-time telemetry systems. Our onboard electronics must flawlessly process complex sensor data (GPS, barometric pressure, IMUs) to determine the exact apogee and automatically trigger the parachute recovery sequences—all while surviving extreme high-G forces and heavy vibrations.

We are actively looking for industry partners to supply components, share technical expertise, or financially support our mission. Partnering with AnTARES is more than just brand visibility; it gives your company a direct line to recruit the top engineering and IT talent of tomorrow.

Visit our demo booth to see our custom hardware up close, meet our avionics engineers, and discover how we can push the boundaries of technology together.
