NAMUR Open Architecture (NOA): Plant monitoring for the process industry
Beckhoff has developed an NOA edge device specifically for reading out the additional operating data for the higher-level M+O. The edge device, which consists of a compact embedded PC, EtherCAT Terminals with HART functionality, and the relevant TwinCAT project, can be placed directly in the plant. TwinCAT MTP: modular automation with Module Type Package

The MX-System: Pluggable system solution for control cabinet-free automation
The decentralized MX-System is the first to achieve completely control cabinet-free automation of machines and systems. TwinCAT Controller Redundancy
TwinCAT Controller Redundancy: Controller redundancy with standard hardware components Software-based solution protects plant uptime through redundant control operation Plant availability plays a crucial role in the process industry in particular, so building redundancy into automation technology designs is vital. This is why Beckhoff expanded its extensive range of solutions in this area to also include a software solution for redundant control operation: TwinCAT Controller Redundancy. While the robust design of the company’s Industrial PCs alone already ensures a high level of availability, Beckhoff is now expanding its product portfolio to check yet another box with TwinCAT Controller Redundancy (TF1100). This entirely software-based solution allows two standard industrial PCs that both run the same PLC program to operate as redundant controllers in just a few easy steps. An additional, high-performance network connection between the two controllers provides the necessary synchronization. Standard Ethernet is used here, so no dedicated hardware components are required. With minimal effort, this ensures that only one of the two industrial PCs addresses the fieldbus components at any given time, and that the control programs are executed simultaneously on both computers. This synchronicity is the basic prerequisite for changing the primary industrial PC in the event of a fault without losing any information.

Sustainability
PC-based control, the PC- and EtherCAT-based control and drive technology from Beckhoff, offers great potential for making machines and systems for the plastics processing industry work more sustainably. The software is based on the TwinCAT 3 Plastic Framework, the TwinCAT Analytics data analysis solution, and TwinCAT OPC UA for communication according to the Euromap standard. On the hardware side, for example, EtherCAT Terminals for energy data acquisition and servomotor drives play a crucial role as an alternative to hydraulic solutions. The TwinCAT 3 Plastic Framework enables seamless integration of hydraulic and electric drive technology, providing a modular and powerful control system for plastics machinery that minimizes development work while retaining the tried-and-tested openness of the Beckhoff architecture. This means that all prerequisites are in place to process plastics in a way that is as efficient and sustainable as possible, as the high-precision process control and end-to-end digitalization help to save on resources. The Plastic Framework brings together Beckhoff’s many years of expertise in plastics, seamlessly integrating important industry-specific control functions. These are complemented by a collection of industry-typical framework controls that can be seamlessly integrated into the overall solution. What’s more, Euromap/OPC UA can also be integrated with ease. The sample code included as standard for various plastics applications, such as injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion, simplifies project planning and programming.

EtherCAT measurement modules
The new ELM314x economy line of the EtherCAT measurement modules supplements the established ELM3x0x line with a lower cost 1 ksps class. This simplifies the use of the system-integrated precision measurement technology, which taps significant optimisation and efficiency potentials both in production machines and in inline test benches.

Ultra-precise, fast and robust measurement technology modules will become an even more integrated part of PC-based control solutions. The new EtherCAT measurement technology modules can be directly integrated into the modular EtherCAT communication system and combined with the extensive portfolio of more than 500 other EtherCAT Terminals. New metal housings optimise shielding and cooling in measurement technology applications. At the same time, the durable housings provide enhanced flexibility at the interface level, such as for LEMO or BNC plug connectors or for the established Push-In as a quickly customisable standard solution. Measurement accuracy of 100 ppm at 23 °C, precise synchronisation of < 1 μs, and the high sampling rate of up to 50,000 samples per second guarantee high-quality data acquisition.

With the addition of the new, ultra-compact C6030 Industrial PC (IPC), the advantages of small space requirements, universal applicability and flexible installation are now also available for complex applications with the highest performance requirements. The multi-core computer, with a size of only 132 x 132 x 67 mm, integrates Intel® Core™ i-series processors of the 6th and 7th Generation to provide ample computing power and offer maximum performance with up to 3.6 GHz per core.

C6015
The ultra compact C6015 Industrial PC is designed for universal use in automation, visualisation and communication tasks, as well as in EtherCAT-based applications. As an exceptionally inexpensive, compact and flexibly-mounted solution, it opens up new application areas for IPC technology, especially those with pronounced cost or space restraints. Fully suited to industrial applications, the multi-core IPC measures just 82 x 82 x 40 mm, demonstrating the extensive scalability of PC-based control technology from Beckhoff.
