Maj Koen Ceulemans, Innovation Officer Belgian Army, Defence
With a background as a Paracommando and deployments in Africa and the Middle East, Maj Koen Ceulemans now drives innovation within Belgian Defence. He is a tech enthusiast and adept of lifelong learning. In 2020 he started to promote Innovation within the Special Operations Regiment and now he is working as Innovation Officer for the Belgian Land Component. Firstly, his job is to support bottom-up innovation initiatives from their units. Secondly, he facilitates contacts between industry and the end-user in the early stages of development. Additionally, he is in charge of the day-to-day management of Belgian Defence’s Innovation as a Service contract.
