ChemStream masters the key parameters on how to improve and optimize the adhesion of UV-curable inks and coatings on demanding substrates such as plastics, metals and glass. The strategy of ChemStream over the past decade has been to develop solutions for “direct to substrate adhesion”, thereby minimizing tedious priming- and other pre-treatment steps and enabling a significant reduction of the ‘Total Cost of Ownership’ (TCO) for our clients. Tuning the ink and coating formulations towards a better adhesion involves the control of shrinkage, physisorption, chemisorption, the study of the Hansen solubility parameters (HSP) and the addition of commercial as well as tailor-made adhesion promoters.
